What’s on your calendar?

Tonight, Tim Brantley will perform at Barnes and Noble and I’ll attend my second show of the year. Statistically, I’m off to a faster start than 2008. But the first performance I caught was a (very good) cover band with a $5 cover at Speakeasy, and tonight is a freebie. My wallet’s very happy.

Well, that’s an exaggeration. My wallet’s sort of happy, because while I’ve kept it inexpensive so far, I’ve also got lots of shows on my calendar. I’m counting down the days till the Punch Brothers at the Alys Stephens Center (Jan. 31), Cowboy Junkies at the same venue, Ryan Adams and the Cardinals at the Alabama Theatre (March 6)—and in Nashville (March 14) and Atlanta (March 20). And that’s only a tiny peek at the shows on my radar this spring.

In the coming weeks I’ll be posting interviews with Dar Williams, Punch Brother Chris Eldridge, Act of Congress and many more. In the meantime, I want to know what shows you are looking forward to this spring. Did you buy Dave Matthews Band tickets in the presale this week? (Tickets for the April 20 show are officially on sale tomorrow.) Are you anxiously awaiting local boy A.A. Bondy’s return to Birmingham (Bottletree, Feb. 13)? I want to hear all about it—and maybe we can line up interviews with some of those folks, too.
